Article Title

The Maori kotaha.

Description

This paper is an attempt to examine a fresh light, the theories regarding the Maori use of the kotaha or whip, and the kopere, or whip-thrown spear. It will be shown that a short kotaha may have been used as a weapon, with a different technique from that used with the long type, although the latter was undoubtedly employed for specific purposes.
